TESTED: My Favorite Paddleboarding Gear for Fall

Fall can be a wonderful season for paddleboarding. It’s not too cold yet, and the sun isn’t as blazing as it is during the summer months—perfect. If you’re looking to get into SUP (stand-up paddleboarding), or if you are already a fan of the sport and would like to upgrade your SUP gear, here are a handful of my favorite pieces of paddleboarding gear for fall and beyond.

iROCKER Original All Around 11′

First things first, the paddleboard. I love iROCKER’s inflatable All Around, an 11-foot board that’s a great choice for all skill levels. This is a highly versatile board that’ll keep you afloat on flatwater, mildly choppy waters, and mild surf.

Since it’s inflatable, iROCKER’s All Around is super portable. It’s light to transport and easy to inflate, and it doesn’t take up a lot of space in storage. Once inflated, the All Around has a nice, sturdy feel to it. It’s large enough to bring a passenger and some gear along, too. (Since I have kids, I always have a passenger!)

The company’s 2024 collection includes some really cute colorways. I have the All Around in “punch bowl.” If you’re in the market for an inflatable SUP, consider this solid board at a reasonable price. You won’t be disappointed.

AIRBANK SUP Pump Whale Shark Pro

One of the best ways to upgrade your paddleboarding gear this fall is to upgrade your SUP pump (if you have an inflatable, of course). I love AIRBANK’s Whale Shark Pro. If you’re pumping your board by hand, it’s definitely time to upgrade, and once you do, you’ll never look back. Even if your inflatable SUP comes with an electric pump, I think you’ll find the Whale Shark Pro to be a welcome upgrade.

This rechargeable SUP pump is incredibly easy to use, and it’ll inflate your board faster than a standard pump—just 10 minutes from 0 to 18 psi (it has a max of 20 psi). It also has more juice than your typical SUP pump and can fill up to five 10.5′ boards to 20 psi on a single charge.

A family member recommended this SUP pump to me when we got our first inflatable, and he was absolutely right. It’s worth the investment to upgrade.

BougeRV Portable Propane Outdoor Water Heater

If you get wet, sandy, or sweaty during your SUP adventure this fall, don’t forget your portable outdoor water heater/shower system. This one from BougeRV is impressive. The unit is lightweight and relatively small, so it won’t take up a ton of space in your trunk, it runs off propane, and it works so incredibly fast that you’ll have a warm shower ready as soon as you are.

To use, charge the unit, attach a small propane bottle per the instructions, and bring along a container for water (or pre-fill it with water if you won’t have access to clean water). Place one end of the pump into your clean water, then turn it on and enjoy warm, pressurized water almost instantly. Great for camping and fall SUP trips.

iROCKER Inflatable SUP Kayak Seat

If you’re paddleboarding with a kid like me, it’s great to have the option of a seat for them (or you) to sit down. Even if you’re going solo, a kayak seat is a fun upgrade to your SUP experience if you’d like to enjoy your board in a different way.

iROCKER’s inflatable SUP kayak seat is really comfortable and easy to use. Simply inflate the bottom part of the seat and the backrest (you can use the bottom part alone, if you want), then connect the two pieces together and attach them to your iROCKER inflatable SUP. The seat comes in two sizes, small and large.

If you’d like to add some versatility to your paddleboard, or if you prefer to sit on your SUP, this seat is a must-have accessory.
