Tip For Tent Safety – Put Tinfoil on Tent Guylines

Tip for Tent Safety
Tin foil on the guyline reflects light making it easy to see when walking around

Admit it, you have walked out of your tent, turned and tripped over the guyline coming off the fly of the tent. After a few choice words, you probably looked for something to put on it so you would notice it better. Tent guylines can truly be a safety hazard for all campers from children to pets. I can’t even count the amount of times my dog has run right in to the guyline when walking around our tent. There are not many options out there for colored guyline and lets face it no one wants to take the time to undo the current guyline and string through the new one.

A great tip for tent safety is to wrap tinfoil on the guyline that comes out from the tent fly. This helps it stand out from the ground, plus it reflects light making it easy to see when walking around. Most people have tinfoil packed away in their camping tote for food storage and cooking, so it is an easy product to use for tent safety.

What To Do

tip for tent safety
Start at the bottom of the guy line and just wrap the tinfoil around the line

You will need about a 10 inch section of tinfoil that you can rip in to 3-4 strips. Start at the bottom of the guy line and just wrap the tinfoil around the line. Continue moving up the guyline until it is near where the tent begins. It is not necessary to wrap the entire guyline since only a small portion of the line is a tripping hazard. Do this on all guylines to easily help prevent tripping around the tent.

This is a super simple tip for tent safety, it only takes a few minutes to complete but can save a lot of stub toes and tripping over your tent.
