A visitor to Grand Canyon National Park never made it home. At the end of last week, a 65-year-old man sadly fell over a ledge near Guano Point on the west side of the canyon. He fell 130 feet to his death, and the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, alongside Hualapai Nation police and fire officials, retrieved his body using a rope system.

Local news reports the man “slipped and fell,” but there is no additional information about the victim or the incident at this time. Guano Point is near the Skywalk glass bridge but is separate from it. There are areas of Guano Point with rock outcroppings and winding trails, in some cases without safety railings.
