Trailer Tips: Do I need a special vehicle to tow camping trailers?

Do I need a special vehicle to tow camping trailers?

If you haven’t looked at modern camping trailers, you would be shocked at how far along they have come. Whether you prefer sleeping in a tent or bringing along a multitude of modern conveniences that are packed into camping trailers, we believe that if it gets people out, enjoying the outdoors, it’s a good thing.

One consideration you’ll need to make, which you don’t have to worry about with a tent, is actually towing your pull behind trailer to your campsite. At 50 Campfires we get tons of questions surrounding camping trailers, how to go about finding the right one, and just general inquiries surrounding them. We compiled to most asked questions and turned them into a series called Trailer Tips.

Camping trailers come in all shapes and sizes to fit your specific needs. The endless options in size, weight, space, etc. also create an issue with knowing how to match trailer weight and the towing capacity of your vehicle. Before heading out to purchase a new or used camping trailer, it is a good idea to figure out what the towing capacity of the vehicle you’ll be using to haul your slice of paradise around.

Bob Rogers from Lance Campers joins 50 Campfires to answer your most pressing camping trailer questions in a series we are calling Trailer Tips!
