When a photo of a mushroom gets hundreds of thousands of likes, you know you’ve struck a chord with nature lovers. A macro photographer who specializes in miniature mushrooms managed to draw a huge audience after posting some incredible up-close photos of a teeny-tiny pink mushroom in all of its glory. This photographer, who goes by Jay on Instagram, isn’t the only one who’s had success in this niche. It seems there’s a market for very detailed photos of tiny mushrooms, and we’re here for it.

Another macro photographer named Eric Cho similarly had a tiny-mushroom post blow up on social media. Cho shared photos of a “light blue pileus” that appears to be covered in gold flecks. It’s fascinating to see the detail these photographers have managed to capture on these mystifying, miniature organisms.
