Viral Video: Man Confronts Wolf Pack in Yellowstone

A man approached a wolf pack in Yellowstone National Park and walked away unharmed, but, at times, it didn’t look like he’d be walking away at all. Bystanders were not sure how the scene was going to play out, and one photographer captured the whole tense scene on video.

In fact, a group of photographers standing a distance away were tracking the man with their cameras as he walked toward the wolves. He then tried to walk away as the animals began to approach him. At one point, the man deployed bear spray to stop a wolf from getting any closer to him.

“I’m in Yellowstone most of this week to photograph the scenery and wildlife,” wrote Keith Kerbs in an Instagram post sharing the footage. “So far have seen quite a bit which I’ll share soon but had to share this video I took this morning from a safe distance of a very foolish man and a pack of wolves. He almost didn’t make it out alive. I apologize for the language of fellow photographers / sightseers but decided to include audio for full effect. Don’t worry I was a safe distance with my [camera] on a tripod with a 500mm lens and 1.4x teleconverter.”

Kerbs’ video has been picked up widely by media outlets, and many people are chiming in to note how dangerous this was for both the man and the wolves. In the background of Kerbs’ video, you can hear other visitors yelling at the man to get away from the wolves.
