The bald eagle symbolizes bravery and strength in the United States, and one bald eagle that got caught up in Hurricane Milton earlier this month epitomizes these traits. The eagle rode out the hurricane in its southwest Florida home, and a remote trail cam caught the whole thing on video. It’s pretty crazy to watch.

In the video, which Window To Wildlife posted to X, you can see the wind whipping around the bald eagle as it rocks back and forth, trying to stay upright. The entire tree that houses the nest appears to sway several feet, but the nest doesn’t fall, and neither does the bald eagle.
Window To Wildlife is an organization that installs wildlife cameras and livestreams footage of animals like osprey and eagles. This particular eagle’s name is Clive, and he and his nest reportedly survived the hurricane. The organization wrote on X: “Never seen an eagle ride out a hurricane in a nest before. Actually crazy!”
