WATCH: Did You Realize Komodo Dragons Were THIS Big?

A man standing behind a Komodo dragon helps demonstrate just how big these massive reptiles can be. A couple of months ago, Wild Charles posted a video to social media showing off the dragon’s impressive size (using himself for scale), and it went viral. People in the comments section can’t seem to believe how large these animals are.

Even if there’s some forced perspective going on in this particular video, it doesn’t change the fact that Komodo dragons are the largest living lizards in the world. The largest one on record was over 10 feet long and weighed 366 pounds (!). Komodo dragons live on only a few islands in Indonesia, including the island of Komodo, which makes up part of Komodo National Park.

Komodo dragons have large, curved teeth and a venomous bite. They can take down deer, wild boar, and even water buffalo.
