Camp Virginia: I’m talking with Darlene this morning. She is the Manager at Waynesboro North 340 Campground in Virginia. How are you doing, Darlene?

Darlene: I’m doing well, thank you.

CV: So, how long has the campground been there and how did you guys get started?

Darlene: My parents owned it. It’s been in the family for over 30 years.

CV: Wow.

Darlene: Our parents are now deceased, so I am now managing the campground. It’s a family-orientated campground. We are open all year long. We have full hook-ups. Water, sewer and electric. We’re very competitively priced. We’re rated by Good Sams, but we are not a Good Sams Park, but we get a very high rating from them every year. We’re centrally located in the Shenandoah Valley, which makes us very convenient for all the historical museum, wineries. Visit all the sites that are here in this Shenandoah Valley. We’re very clean, very well maintained. Probably, seriously, everybody brags about how clean our restrooms are, our shower houses are – things of that sort.

CV: Great.

Darlene: We do activities on the weekends from season. And you know, actually, when we can, we have loud music, and the activities will be listed on the website going forward. So, like we have a ’50s Weekend. We had a Halloween Weekend. Things of that sort just to give you an idea. Let’s see. What else are you looking for me to tell you? I mean I don’t know what to include and what not to include.

CV: Oh, no problems here. Yes, I’m looking on the website here, and the weekends sound like a blast. The ’50s Weekend. The Bluegrass Night I would particularly enjoy. That sounds like a lot of fun.

Darlene: Yeah.

CV: Now, what types of camping do you guys offer there, and do you also have tent camping?

Darlene: We have plenty of tent camping. We also do groups. We’ve had Boy Scout troops to come in. We do group tent camping. We do RV camping as well. With RVs, we do monthly rentals as well. We have a pavilion that we can do rentals on. It’s a covered pavilion that we do rent that out for family reunions and things of that sort.

CV: Okay, perfect.

Darlene: We’ve actually had weddings there. We just had a wedding there last summer.

CV: Fun.

Darlene: Yeah. So, just give us a call. We’re open to suggestions and questions about what we can and can’t do, and we try to make it work for the camper.

CV: Okay. Now, one thing we like to put in the articles is a little bit of recommendations for people in the area. Now, if you were going to head out and about in that area, what’s one of your favorite attraction in the area, Darlene?

Darlene: Okay. In Charlottesville, it will be Thomas Jefferson’s place, Lodge Helen. We have a lot of history here. We have Wilson birthplace in Staunton, Virginia. We’re about 15 to 20 minutes from there. We have the caverns. Luray Caverns. We’re close to Appalachian trails. We’re about five miles from the drive of Blue Ridge Parkway, Shenandoah Valley. So, like I said earlier, we’re centrally located from all of these things. There’s a lot of hiking trails, wineries, and a lot of things going on in this area.

CV: Okay, and one last question for you. If you were going to spend just one night in Waynesboro North 340 Campground, which specific spot would you stay at and why?

Darlene: What do you mean specific spot?

CV: Well, we’re always looking for an inside tip. A lot of times, people have a favorite campsite or a favorite RV site that they think is.

Darlene: Well, I’ll be honest with you. I wouldn’t want to give that type of information out, and here’s the reason why. Everybody would call and ask for that one particular site and it can only hold but one RV at one time. So, I don’t think that would be something I would want to do.

CV: Sure.

Darlene: We have pull-through sites as well as back-in sites for the RVs. I think that’s the best way to put that.

CV: Perfect. Perfect. Well, it sounds like a great place. I love the activities that you guys have and the activities in the area. It sounds like they’d be a blast for any family, for anyone with just about any interest. So, thank you for taking some time out of your day, Darlene, to chat with us about Waynesboro North 340 Campground in Virginia.

Darlene: All right, thank you and have a good day.
