A woman in Tisbury, Massachusetts, a town located in Martha’s Vineyard, spotted a rare white stag, and she describes the experience as being near mystical. In fact, local news reports that several “Islanders” have had the good fortune to spot the white stag during the past month or so.

Phyllis Segal saw the animal outside her home in west Tisbury and began recording as it trotted out of a wooded area. She says she took the animal as a good omen.
“I was pretty stunned, because I had never seen anything like it,” Segal told The Martha’s Vineyard Times. “We looked at each other, and he turned around and slowly walked away.”
According to a Massachusetts deer and moose biologist, the stag likely has piebaldism, a genetic condition in which animals have patches of fur or skin that lack pigmentation, often appearing white.
