A curious and hungry black bear broke through a window and entered a nursing home in western Pennsylvania a few days ago, and then things got weird. Caretakers at St. Andrew’s Village say the bear wandered around for about 15 minutes while they tried to coax it out using Rice Krispies treats. They even tried to shove the bear toward an exit with a resident’s walker.

Charlene Elliott, who works at the nursing home, told CBS Pittsburgh in an interview that at one point, the young bear climbed into a resident’s bed . . . with the resident in it. Thankfully, authorities were able to lure the bear away using a humane bear trap. They relocated the animal to a safe spot in the wild.

Thankfully, no residents were injured in the ordeal. However, Elliott, the other caretakers, and the residents certainly have a good story to tell. (Especially the guy who ended up in bed with a bear!) The organization that owns the nursing home said they removed all the bird feeders from the campus in hopes no other bears come calling.
