“Watch my husband [crash] into a stranger,” wrote Linh My in her TikTok video that more than 33 million people watched. The viral video shows a man at the top of a tall sand hill lying on his stomach on a sand sled. Another person pushes him down the steep slope, and then you watch him go, go, go. He reaches the bottom and doesn’t seem to be slowing down . . . and then he heads straight toward . . . oh no. The sand sledder slams into a stranger (she’s OK), and now the internet is slamming this stranger for having no survival instincts at all.

Linh My’s TikTok caption’s hashtags suggest the incident occurred while the couple was sand sledding on vacation in Huacachina, a desert town in Peru. In a follow-up post sharing a second video, she notes that neither her husband nor the stranger got hurt.

The TikTok community just can’t side with the innocent bystander, though, because she seemingly had so much time and space to get out of the way of the oncoming sled. Many jokes reference the fact that the woman started to run at the very last minute in the direction of the sled instead of to the left or right of the sled’s path.
“She had 7 business days to move out the way,” wrote one person.
“Survival instincts of an eraser,” joked another.
