There’s a new skateboarding world record, thanks to a massive drop-in on a monster-sized ramp in Brazil. The video documents the entire terrifying moment. Skateboarder Sandro Dias pulled off the feat from a 22-story building as he dropped 70 meters (about 230 feet). The wildest part is that it wasn’t the only world record Dias broke.

In the video, Dias and another person rappel down to the ramp. After taking a few deep breaths, Dias drops down a small ramp onto the main ramp and speeds towards the bottom.
In the clip, you can see Dias wobbling, but he manages to hold it together. He comes to an explosive stop by slamming into a wall of foam cubes.
Officials with Guinness World Records are certifying this as the “tallest drop into a temporary quarter pipe” and “the fastest speed on a temporary quarter pipe.” Dias hit a speed of 103.8kph. That’s more than 64 miles per hour on a skateboard.
Setting a Skateboarding World Record
Dias told Red Bull that planning for this record took 13 years of work.
“I knew it was possible, but almost impossible to actually pull off,” Dias told the beverage and action sports company. “No matter how far away your dreams may seem, never give up on them!”
Before this moment, Dias had four warm-up attempts and slowly increased the height each time. Each attempt was successful and without incident. Eventually, it came time to set the record at new heights.
The feat even caught the eye of skateboarding’s most household name, Tony Hawk, who commented on the post with a simple, “Holyyy 😮👏.”
Another remarkable feat of this entire project is that Sandro Dias is 50-years-old.
