Rock Climbing Around an Airplane? Red Bull Did It

Rock climbers love finding unique places to climb—whether it’s an exciting new boulder or a never-before-scaled mountain. But in a new Red Bull video, a climber takes it to a new extreme. We’re talking about rock climbing on an airplane. The wild video is classic Red Bull, as they combine a death-defying outdoor activity and make it even more extreme.

In the clip, you see professional climber Domen Škofic outside of an airplane, wearing a helmet and strapped with a backpack. He then attempts to climb using climbing holds mounted under the plane’s wing. It isn’t long before he falls off.

The goal is to climb around the entire plane, from wing to wing.

He gets closer on his second attempt but ultimately falls again.

“The problem is the wobbles in the plane,” comments Škofic between attempts. The attempts look exhausting with how much effort they require. Not only does each one end with a parachute landing, but the crew also has to bring the plane back and reset everything.

Attempt three starts with the plane flying at 100 km/h. That’s more than 60 miles per hour, which may be slow for a plane, but holding on at that speed doesn’t look easy for anyone.

Unfortunately, attempt three is also a bust.

Finally, in a last attempt, Škofic gives it another try. At one point, his foot almost slips off, but he’s able to hold on and eventually top out on the wing. After a quick celebration, he takes another plunge from the aircraft with his parachute.

Red Bull went on to call out Tom Cruise in the post. The actor is known for his extreme stunts in movies. The company commented with a joking, “Tom Cruise, you up for the challenge?”
