“Well that’s a first,” Gottinger wrote in his Facebook post sharing several photos of the rescue. “Heading out on a couple tow jobs and seen this fella stuck in the ice. Had to help him.”

Gottinger’s post is going viral, with many news outlets picking up the story. As a result, support for the Good Samaritan’s act is pouring in from strangers all over the world.

“Thank you for being an Amazing Human Being,” wrote one person on Facebook.

“That’s unreal, not many people would stop, let alone figure out how to safely pull a moose out of the ice. So much respect for you for stepping up and getting it done. I’m sure you saved this moose life! Thank you for your kindness!” wrote another.
