CT Insider recently shared footage showing the damage a bear caused inside a Connecticut home after it broke in, warning residents to take precautions so the same thing doesn’t happen to them. The video shows food strewn everywhere, including hallways and rooms other than the kitchen. It also shows a ripped window screen and a broken door—both entry points for the bear, which left large paw prints in its wake.

Officials in Warren, Connecticut, say they have been receiving many calls about black bears entering homes, according to CT Insider. The bears often leave homes “completely in disarray.” In once incident, the news outlet says a bear even killed a cow.
To prevent this from happening, CT Insider urges people who live in bear country to lock their windows and doors.
