Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) reported four bear attacks in the state last week, between August 18-22. The latest bear attack was on an angler who was fishing near the confluence of the Platte rivers on Friday evening. CPW says the man was walking toward the parking lot after fishing (not carrying any fish), when a bear knocked him down and bit his legs. He was hospitalized.

Earlier in the week, there was a bear attack in Steamboat Springs, which involved a bear entering a home and injuring a woman who was inside. That same day, in Aspen, a bear attacked a homeless man who was sleeping in a local park. Then, on August 18, a bear attacked a man in an apartment complex as he exited the laundry room.
CPW says it has received a record number of bear reports this year, and it warns that as bears enter hyperphagia, a period of time where bears eat a lot of calories to bulk up for the winter ahead, Coloradoans need to be careful and aware.
