On Sunday, two hikers in northern Colorado suddenly crossed paths with a bull moose. The animal then ran over one of the hikers, leaving her seriously injured. Local news outlets and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office report that the woman was airlifted to the hospital, and there is no further information about her condition at this time.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) officers are investigating the incident, and a spokesperson told 9 News that there was no clear reason for the attack. “There does not seem to be anything that prompted the incident or aggressive behavior from the moose and was likely an unfortunate circumstance of wrong place wrong time,” CPW said.
