Trail-Cam Video: ‘Spaghetti Pile’ of Rattlesnakes Falls From Ledge

Russ Gleixner recently captured what he calls a “spaghetti pile” of timber rattlesnakes all writhing together and then falling off a rock ledge—all in front of his trail camera in Pennsylvania. It’s definitely something you don’t see every day.

“This gave me a laugh,” Gleixner wrote in a post to a trail-cam Facebook group. “A Spaghetti pile of gravid timbers falling off a rock ledge landing 12ft below. Volume up! You can hear them thud when they hit the ground.”

In a comment reply, Gleixner says he runs several trail cameras at rattlesnake gestation sites across the state of Pennsylvania, so perhaps that’s how he knows these timbers are pregnant/gravid. He also says it’s common for gravid rattlesnakes to pile up on top of each other like this. Gleixner also wrote in reply to a concerned commenter that the snakes appeared to be fine after the fall, and they were back up on the ledge the next day.
