When was Columbus-Belmont State Park founded? How did it start?
Columbus-Belmont State Park was founded in 1934 through the vision of a man named Marion Rust. He visited the old Civil War Site and saw the possibilities.

What are the most popular activities in the park?
The most popular activities are camping, picnicking, and special event Civil War Days. The mini golf course is also a fun thing to do with younger kids.

Where is the park located? What are some other attractions in the area worth checking out?
The park is located at the junction of hwys. 58/80/123 in far west KY. Other area attractions are Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site and the Discovery Park of America.

Which one of those is your favorite?
If I had to choose a favorite thing to do outside of the park it would have to bet the Discovery Park of America. It is packed full of fun and educational opportunities for the whole family.

What are the campsites like at Columbus-Belmont State Park? Are they more open or secluded?
There are 38 sites at the park, with full electrical hook ups as well as a grill. There are restrooms, showers and laundry facilities. The campsites at CBSP are spacious and mostly shaded. They are not secluded. There is also a cabin at the park to rent that can accommodate 2 people.
