For Just $450,000, You, Too, Can Have Sex in Space

With commercial space flights slated to launch later this year, the idea of a romantic space getaway is no longer that far-fetched. And according to an interview with a former NASA astronaut, there’s nothing stopping lucky passengers from, well, getting lucky.

Jose Hernandez, who worked for NASA from 2001 to 2011, reportedly told the Daily Star that sex in space was neither illegal nor impossible.

“From the physical aspect of course you can have physical sexual relations in space,” Hernandez told the Daily Star

Back in 2000, The Guardian reported on an alleged NASA experiment to explore what positions would be possible without gravity to keep cavorters grounded.

“Only four positions were found possible without ‘mechanical assistance,’” The Guardian wrote at the time. “The other six needed a special elastic belt and inflatable tunnel, like an open-ended sleeping bag.”

For months, it was The Guardian’s most popular story. But to the dismay of countless readers, the information the humorous article was based on was later revealed to be a hoax.

But hey, we’re choosing to focus on the good news: This could mean there are actually more than four possible positions.

The bad news: this kind of deep-space exploration is only possible if you’ve got spare half million bucks—or, actually, let’s round up to an even mil, considering you probably want a ticket for your partner, too. If that sounds like you, though, 2023 could be your year to join the 68-Mile-High Club, as the Star calls it. So, go on, test the limits of physics to infinity and beyond.
