Nick and Clint announced the gadget category for the 2015 Gear of the Year starting with the iPro Lens System: 6/6S Starter Kit that turns your phone into a really sweet camera with an interchangeable lens system that is very slick with a case that features 3 thread locations for adding accessories or attaching to a tripod. Next up is the Princeton Tec: Helix Bluetooth Lantern that blew us away with the flexibility of the light that can be controlled by an app on your phone. You can turn it on and off as well as dim the light as needed without ever touching the actual lantern. The next product that is essential for any camper that carries electronics along is a power bank. We named the Outdoor Technology: Kodiak Power Bank our choice for the compact design, size and durability of the product. Next on our list is the RapidPure: Pioneer that blew us away with both how quickly we could suck water through the filter and how good the water tastes. A previous Periscope featured Nick and Clint drinking gross stagnant pond water and using the Pioneer, the water tasted like it was straight from our filtered tap water. Finally we awarded the Thermacell: Repellent Camp Lantern with a 2015 Gear of the Year Gadget award for its great design and for the bug repellent system that actually works.
