A woman is poking fun of herself online after a terrifying grizzly-bear encounter in Glacier National Park. A stranger caught the moment Micah Lynn Hanson spotted a grizzly bear charging toward her and a group of people walking on a trail. Hanson spotted the bear coming up from behind and ran, along with several other people. The bear was just bluff charging, thankfully, and it backed off before reaching the group of hikers.

“Almost didn’t make it to this birthday,” Hanson wrote in her Instagram post sharing the video. “‘Go on a hike,’”’ they said. It’ll be fun, they said . . . [My] life flashed before my eyes. And YES, I KNOW I did basically EVERYTHING you’re NOT supposed to do in a grizzly attack—but I’d like to SEE WHAT YOU DO WHEN A FREAKING WILD GRIZZLY BEAR IS BARRELING AT YOU FULL SPEED!!!!!”

Hanson is referring to the fact that the best practice when encountering a bear is not to run but to stand your ground. Running can trigger the animal’s instinct to chase down prey.
“Disclaimer: No dumb tourists were harmed,” Hanson adds.
