Camping Lake Selmac Resort Oregon
Camp Oregon: I’m talking with Nona today. She’s the Owner at Lake Selmac Resort in Oregon. Nona, why don’t you get us started by telling us a little bit about the history of Lake Selmac Resort?
Nona: Well, the lake is a manmade lake, and it was built in the early ’60s – 1963. And the resort was one of the first things there at Lake Selmac. And it’s always been family owned and operated. I mean not our family, but different families have always owned the property.
CO: Sure.
Nona: And we’ve expanded through the years. We have added things like the mini golf course and we’ve added cabins, and of course more RV sites along the way as well.
CO: Okay.
Nona: But it’s a beautiful lake. We have great fishing there. Twice we’ve gotten the State Record for the largest bass.
CO: All right.
Nona: It’s the home of Oregon. It’s a beautiful lake.
CO: And is the camping from tent all the way to RV camping?
Nona: Sure, yes.
CO: Okay. And what are the most popular activities for the guest there?
Nona: Definitely fishing. Fishing, swimming, and hiking. Mini golf too.
CO: Yeah, I love mini golf.
Nona: Yes. The kids really enjoy it. Let me see. Definitely relaxing.
CO: Absolutely. What are some of your favorite attractions in and around that area in addition to the resort?
Nona: Well, the Oregon caves are fabulous. They have hundreds of thousands of visitors a year.
CO: Okay.
Nona: And also, of course the Rogue River. Very big attraction.
CO: Fantastic. Have you been the caves yourself?
Nona: Oh yes, yes.
CO: I love caves. It sounds like a lot of fun.
Nona: Oh, it’s a great one.
CO: Two more questions for you. If you were going to spend just one hour at Lake Selmac Resort, how would you spend your time there?
Nona: Probably on a paddleboat or a fishing boat. We rent them.
CO: Okay.
Nona: And canoe.
CO: And if you were going to spend just one night at Lake Selmac Resort in Oregon, which specific site would you stay at and why?
Nona: Okay. Just the one campsite?
CO: Yeah, what’s your favorite one?
Nona: Well, all of them have beautiful views of the lake.
CO: So there’s not a bad one.
Nona: There truly isn’t. Some people like to be secluded, so we have that available for them. And then also we do have beautiful views of the lake.
CO: Awesome. Well, Nona, thank you so much for taking some time out of your day to chat with us today about Lake Selmac Resort in Oregon.
Nona: Okay, thank you for calling.
