Colorado Man Confronts Elk on Sidewalk, Throws Starbucks at It

A man running late to work faced a difficult situation. An elk was blocking the sidewalk, so he could either wait for the elk to move and risk being late to his shift, or he could try to get past the elk. The man made his choice, but most people around him didn’t agree. The situation came to head when the elk proved it wasn’t happy about the man’s presence, and the man threw a Starbucks drink at it.

AccuWeather shared the divisive video on TikTok earlier this month, and many people online are scolding the man for his actions. In the video, a man in a yellow jacket tries to walk past an elk on the sidewalk, but the elk isn’t having it. Someone records from behind a fence. When the elk comes toward the man aggressively, he tosses one of the Starbucks drinks he’s holding at the animal, and it does work in deterring the elk’s advance.

Bystanders aren’t happy, though. They tell the man to leave the elk alone, and that’s when he says he needs to get to work. He again tries to get past the elk and almost does, but then he stops to respond to an insult someone yells at him and turns his back to the elk. Thankfully, the person recording the video says “watch out!” right before the animal does another pseudo charge at the man in the yellow jacket.

AccuWeather sums up the situation in its TikTok caption, saying: “A man in Evergreen, Colorado, was late for work and threw Starbucks at an elk standing on the sidewalk. Do not be like this man. Leave wildlife alone.”
