Hey hikers, we all know that the best spots are the ones no one knows about, but have you ever wondered which states have the most “best spots”? Footwear company Kuru took a crack at ranking states according to their hiking potential and came up with a solid top-10 list.

Kuru’s Methodology
To get this list of 10 best states for hiking, Kuru says it compared all 50 states across the United States across five key metrics.
The five metrics were:
- Number of overall reviews on AllTrails for each state
- Number of total hiking trails in each state
- Percentage of total hiking trails that are categorized as “easy”
- Percentage of total hiking trails that are rated 4.5 out of 5 or higher
- Average yearly precipitation in inches
