One gung-ho runner didn’t finish a race, and then that Salomon ADV Skin 12 vest he’d purchased with great intentions became a reminder of his failure, so he returned it to REI. That REI employee (“Diane”) likely listened politely to the story and then offered the customer store credit, but she didn’t hold back on the REI return tag ticket.

“Vest works fine,” Diane wrote. “Customer DNF’d race in it and says it reminds him too much of his failure. Minor salt stains.”
This is just one of the several hilarious REI return tag tickets Scott Jurek shared on Instagram recently, capturing the attention of REI and running-apparel brand Janji.
“Honestly these are all pretty valid reasons for return,” Jurek wrote in his caption, which provides no evidence whatsoever that these are real.

In another one of the epic “description of problem” entries for a pair of Janji Trail Half Tights, an REI employee (“Maria”) wrote: “Customer complained you can see the outline of his weiner in the tights.”
A comment from Janji on the post reads: “Our gear’s designed to perform — can’t help it if it shows results.”
REI’s social-media team also responded to the post, saying: “The stories we could tell . . . “
