

A group of tourists on a winter safari in Yellowstone National Park got an unexpected and very up-close encounter with a wolf pack. Natural Habitat Adventures shared a video one of the visitors took during the encounter. The footage shows a wolf pack running through a snowy landscape at close range.

“Watch this INCREDIBLE, rare, close wolf sighting on our winter Yellowstone Safari!” wrote Natural Habitat Adventures in an Instagram post sharing the video. Several people commented “wow!” and “amazing!”
Beyond being a cool wildlife encounter, it’s still surreal to see gray wolves in Yellowstone. Humans drove these animals to extinction in the region last century, so there were no wolves in Yellowstone until 1995, when they were reintroduced there.
