Mountain Lion and Cubs Flee Fires in Southern California (Video)

Several wildfires are raging across parts of Los Angeles County. Since the Palisades Fire started on Tuesday, tens of thousands of acres have burned, demolishing homes, businesses, and landscapes. In fact, as of Friday, the Palisades Fire alone has decimated over 20,000 acres, and the second-largest blaze, the Eaton Fire, has claimed nearly 14,000 acres. As sections of the Santa Monica Mountains burn, the fire is forcing wildlife like mountain lions to flee from their homes.

“It’s not just humans fleeing the flames,” says LA-local ABC7 News. “A mountain lion and two cubs are seen hightailing it down Topanga Canyon Blvd. overnight, running away from where the Palisades Fire ravaged hundreds of homes. The scene is a stark reminder of the effect the wildfires are having on our wildlife.”
