A young mountain-lion cub, likely less than six months old, stirred up a lot of concern when residents spotted her sitting in the middle of a road in Castaic, California (northern Los Angeles County). The adorable cub put up a fight, but the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) eventually captured her and began the search for her family.

The latest update is that the cub is staying at the Los Angeles Zoo as the efforts to find her mother continue. Officials say the cub has a small injury and is underweight, but they should be able to release her back into the wild before long.
