When it comes to fishing around structure, there are a few pros and cons. The first thing to understand is what structure is, and it’s essentially what’s on the bottom. Common structure can be rocks, different contours on the bottom or even trees in the water, etc. Bait fish like to be around structure, and therefore that’s where the gamefish will be as well. It provides a safe area for the fish to be. The major con of fishing structure is ultimately that you will get snagged more often. Additionally, if the water isn’t very deep, structure can ruin your boat or props if there are big boulders or rocks. You need to venture into the water around these areas carefully. Ultimately, this tactic can make for catching a lot of fish!
