Talal Al Rabah captured stunning images and video footage of a sand cat family in Kuwait, and his work has drawn worldwide attention. Sand cats are small wild cats native to the deserts of Africa and Asia. Al Rabah says these cats are a rare sight in the Kuwaiti environment, in part because they blend in so well with their surroundings.

The wildlife photographer shared the photos at the end of the year, saying this documentation of a sand cat and her kittens is dear to his heart.
“I wanted to end the year 2024 with my most important documentation and the photos closest to my heart this year of a sand cat with its young,” Al Rabah wrote in his post. “The sand cat is considered a rare animal in the Kuwaiti environment and it is difficult to see it because of its ability to camouflage itself with its color similar to the color of the sand. It is considered a shy animal and is active at night.”
