Comedian Russell Brand called his early career and marriage to pop singer Katy Perry “chaotic” during one of the more revealing moments when he appeared on the show Running Wild: The Challenge with Bear Grylls.

While sitting aside a mountain in the Scottish Highlands, Brand explained his fame and success seemed to happen all at once. In his early 30s, he was “most in the public eye” as he started making movies in the United States and he married Perry, who was uber-famous at the time.
“Some aspects of it were like amazing, like she’s an amazing person. And it was kind of incredible to live for a moment in that eye of the cyclone-type aspect of fame,” Brand said.
“Aside from my like sort of feelings of affection for Katy, it’s a time that I remember as being a little bit chaotic and … a little disconnected,” he added.
Brand and Perry married in 2010, shortly after they first met. She appeared in a cameo in his 2009 film Get Him to the Greek. And then they filed for divorce in 2012, citing irreconcilable differences.
Later, in interviews and books, the couple revealed that the downfall of the relationship had been conflicting career schedules and different relationship goals.
