A trail cam caught several tense minutes of a standoff between a deer and a mountain lion in Lassan County, California. Randy Robbins of Randy Robbins Photography shared the trail-camera footage from his own backyard on Facebook, calling it “some of the craziest” he’s ever captured.

“OH MY WORD the tension,” Robbins wrote in his Facebook post sharing the video. “I woke up to 30 alerts from my cellular trail cam this morning. [. . .] This drama played out over about an 11 minute period starting at 6:06 this morning in the backyard.”

Robbins explains that the deer seems to know something is watching it, but it probably doesn’t realize the extend of the danger it’s in. “The lion has the vision advantage,” Robbins said. “And I didn’t see a single blink from those giant eyeballs.”
You’ll have to be patient to see how this predator/prey interaction plays out.
