“That black wolf is a d*mn werewolf!” writes one person on Facebook after watching trail-cam footage from the Yukon showing several foxes, coyotes, and wolves. One of the wolves caught on the trail cam has black fur and is therefore a rare sight. Apparently, it’s also the largest wolf the trail-cam owner has ever captured on camera.

Yukon Wildlife Cams shared the video, which combines several clips of all three wild canine species sharing the same territory. The video first shows fox footage, then coyote footage, then wolf footage, and then repeats that order a few times.
One of the wolves that makes an appearance has mostly black fur, and it’s big. The comments section went crazy for the black wolf, with some calling it “majestic,” “beautiful,” and “a rare commodity.”
The post also provides tips for telling the three canine species apart. “Overall size is the first characteristic I use to distinguish among these species, followed by things such as facial features, gait, and tail,” wrote Yukon Trail Cams.
