A lot of people in the U.S. took to social media today to share photos of last night’s northern lights at various places in the country. The National Park Service (NPS) also shared some photos of the northern lights from a handful of NPS-managed sites, including national parks and national monuments like Acadia National Park in Maine, Dinosaur National Monument in Colorado, and Big Bend National Park in Texas.

In one photo from Acadia, pinks and greens illuminate the sky in a magnificent way. In another, Nebraska’s Scotts Bluff National Monument stands out against a brilliant sky of blues, purples, and greens. From bright pink to bright purple, the sky rendered these incredible sites even more incredible for a brief period of time, and we’re glad someone was there to take a picture.
