“Insane light show up on el Cap tonight!” wrote Caldwell in his Instagram post sharing the footage. In the background, you can hear what sounds like Alex Honnold having a conversation with someone else. Caldwell says he’s never seen it light up like that before.

“If Tommy Caldwell has never seen this before, nobody has ever seen this before,” wrote one person in the comments section.
“Pov the eye of Sauron opened up in the valley,” joked another person, referencing the Eye of Sauron from the film adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, which appears as a massive, fiery eye.
