If you’re ever in Antarctica and fancy yourself a Coke, don’t attempt to pour it into a glass outdoors. Matty Jordan tried this, and it did not work. However, the video he recorded shortly afterward went viral, and now we can all laugh at his epic fail together.

“Today in Antarctica, it’s minus 57 degrees, and I tried to pour a can of Coke,” Jordan says in his funny video. “And it didn’t go so well.”
In the video, Jordan is standing outdoors bundled up in the dark. He’s holding a glass full of frozen-solid Coke, with the can still attached by a frozen-solid stream of liquid. Clearly, the Coke froze solid before Jordan could even pour it fully out of the can, because it’s really that cold.
Watch what happened:
Just for fun, I decided to check what the temperature is in Antarctica today, April 26, and, at least at the South Pole, it’s very similar to the day Jordan filmed his viral video. It’s -53° F with “light snow” and “ice fog.”
However, Antarctica is large, and the temperatures vary widely across the continent. The warmest location on the continent today is a balmy 42°F at the Carlini Base. Meanwhile, the coldest location on Antarctica today is -72°F at the Vostok Station.
Sounds like Coke would be on the menu today at Carlini but definitely not at Vostok.
