A viral video shows one woman’s close encounter with a great gray owl when it landed on her car door. Marie Jaworski is a wildlife photographer who was taking photos of owls when one of her subjects decided to come say hello.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would have such a close encounter,” wrote Jaworski in her Instagram post, which ended up with nearly 100,000 likes. “As the owl glided effortlessly towards me I watched in awe as it landed softly on my car door. [. . .] A once in a lifetime experience I will never forget.”
Jaworski further describes that she often leaves her car door open when she comes across an owl in the wild to minimize noise as she prepares to capture her images. This thoughtful gesture left the door open (literally) for a wonderful encounter.
