Watch: Horse Rescued by Helicopter from California Trail

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a . . . flying horse?

Late last week, emergency officials in California say they responded to the scene of a horse trapped on a trail. When Orange County Fire Officials arrived, they found Sobe, a 25-year-old horse, wedged in a confined space. After attempting to remove the horse themselves along with a veterinarian, they determined the only way was through helicopter extraction.

Technical Rescue Firefighters trained in this kind of rescue prepared Sobe before they could fly the horse out.

In the video, the horse is wrapped up and slowly lifted into the air. The helicopter carries the animal away from the trails.

Officials examined Sobe at a nearby animal center, and the horse is said to be standing fine now.
