WATCH: Surprise Wildlife Visitor in McDonald’s Drive-Thru

Sarah McAllister recently visited a McDonald’s restaurant in Las Vegas, Nevada, and she came across a surprise visitor—an owl sitting on the yellow pole designed to keep cars from bumping into the drive-thru window. Apparently, the owl is a regular there.

“Late night/early morning McDonald’s run – turns out I wasn’t the only one with the wise idea!” McAllister wrote in her Instagram post sharing the video. “The staff informed me that this polite little owl visits the drive thru every other day for some fries. It was shocking to see such a beautiful, elegant creature in the late-night fast-food setting, but honestly, I would expect nothing less from Las Vegas!”

The animal appears to be a burrowing owl. According to the Nevada Department of Wildlife, western burrowing owls live throughout the state. They’re supposed to eat invertebrates like insects and spiders, not fries. In fact, many people in the comments section say this is a fun wildlife encounter, but it’s a shame that employees are feeding the owl fried foods.
