Ace of Ace Trail Cams is a YouTuber passionate about wildlife and trail cams. He sometimes leaves piles of food in a forest to see what comes out to eat it—and his trail cams are always rolling, of course. In one video, he left a pile of bananas in the woods, and it didn’t really go as planned.

Some animals go, well, bananas for bananas, but those animals don’t live in this forest, apparently. Ace said he was absolutely shocked that nothing went for his pile ‘o bananas at first, but then a couple of variables changed and the footage got much more interesting.
In fact, once the action starts, it’s fun to see what shows up for the banana party. At one point, both a raccoon and a woodchuck share the bounty.
Commenters on Ace’s YouTube video point out that bananas don’t give off much of a scent until they’re super ripe, so it makes sense that forest critters didn’t show much interest until the bananas were decomposing. Ace also added a bonus fruit to the pile after the experiment wasn’t initially working.
