What’s wilder than watching a leopard haul its kill up into a tree? Watching a lioness try to steal the kill from the leopard . . . and then seeing the lion and leopard battle it out in a tree. Some safari goers got to see this intense showdown in real life, and we’re sure they’ll never forget it.

“In the wild heart of the Serengeti, a fierce and rare spectacle unfolded—a stunning lioness clashing with a leopard in the branches of an acacia tree,” wrote Wazo Safaris in an Instagram post sharing the video. “This extraordinary encounter showcases the raw power and agility of two of Africa’s most iconic predators, locked in a tense battle for dominance. The lioness, known for her strength and fearless nature, boldly ascends the tree—a domain often ruled by the leopard. Meanwhile, the leopard, agile and cunning, holds its ground with unmatched grace, defending its territory high above the savanna.”
It’s unclear when exactly this battle took place or where, but what is clear is that the lion vs. leopard showdown quickly became too intense for the limbs of the acacia tree and both wild cats came crashing down in a flash.
