An Australian woman walking her dog in a wooded area ended up saving the day after she spotted an unusual site—a python wrapping around a koala joey as the koala mom desperately tried to save her baby. Footage of the woman (@behappy.golucky) unwinding the boa and releasing the joey back into a tree is now going viral.

“Not something I ever thought I’d witness,” wrote @behappy.golucky in her Instagram post sharing the footage. “I heard birds making a commotion in the bushes and see a koala on the ground with what I thought was a deceased joey that fell out of the tree [. . .]. I ran over only to find a PYTHON strangling the baby and mum stressing out not being able to get it off.”
The woman grabbed the joey, got the snake off, reunited the baby with its mother, and relocated the snake. She even checked on the koala pair an hour later to make sure they were ok. She’s a hero in the eyes of everyone but the snake.
