An eight-year-old angler who was fishing with his dad at Ridley Park Lake in Pennsylvania made an unexpected catch the other day—a piranha. The young boy said he knew it was a piranha because he’s seen them on YouTube.

A wildlife official told local ABC 6 News that it’s likely the piranha was someone’s exotic pet at one point. The unknown pet owner must have released the fish relatively recently, because the expert also says he doesn’t think the animal, which is native to tropical rivers in South America, would have survived very long, even if it hadn’t been caught.
