Officials Find Massive 525-Pound Bear Under California Home

After an Altadena, California family returned home after being evacuated (due to the Eaton Fire), the utility company informed them that they couldn’t restore power to the home because a massive bear was in their crawlspace. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) reports that a team spent about 24 hours removing, relocating, and releasing the “massive, 525-pound adult male bear.”

After wildlife officials safely removed the bear from beneath the home, they brought it into Angeles National Forest, gave it a quick health checkup and a GPS collar, and then released it back into the wild. Meanwhile, CDFW says the utility company restored the homeowners’ power, and they boarded up their crawlspace to prevent future visitors.
