A sea turtle got tangled up in a ghost net (a discarded fishing net floating around in the ocean), and that could have been the end of its life. Thankfully, it wasn’t, thanks to a Good Samaritan who saw the tangled turtle and freed it. A woman recorded the sea turtle rescue and posted it on TikTok, where it attracted nearly 8 million views.

“What a magical but eye opening moment,” wrote Bianca, who goes by userbiancc on TikTok.

Bianca was the person filming as a fisherman reached for the tangled mess and started freeing the small turtle. The man carefully cut away the net, which had wrapped around the turtle’s shell, flippers, and head. After he freed the turtle, the man put the turtle in the water, and they watched it zoom off—freed at last.
After the exciting release, Bianca and the Good Samaritan (she doesn’t identify who it is) give each other a high five. It’s a beautiful moment, but in her video’s comments section, Bianca admits she wonders how many more piles of fishing gear are floating around out there.
