Cat Disappeared On A Road Trip

Talk about the most miraculous Christmas surprise. PEOPLE shared the incredible story of Jeremy Barton and his cat, Shadow. Barton was driving from Alaska back to his home state of Oklahoma. Shadow was along for the ride.
As you do in any good road trip, Barton decided to make a pit stop. That pit stop was at Liart Hot Springs Provincial Park in British Columbia, Canada. Alas, it appeared that Shadow liked the park so much that he decided to stay for a while. Barton quickly noticed that the cat had wandered off and began frantically searching for him.
Despite searching for hours, Shadow was nowhere to be found. Disheartened, Barton had to return home and tell his children how their beloved cat disappeared. “It was pretty devastating,” he told the outlet. “They both cried for a couple of days.”
Luckily for them, this story has a happy ending.
Shadow Is Found Five Months Later
This cat truly must have used one of its nine lives. While the family was grieving and losing all hope of a loving reunion, Shadow was busy surviving. Despite continued search efforts, Shadow was lost in the Northern Rockies. That is, until park operators at Liard Hot Springs got a lucky break.
PEOPLE shared that Shadow suddenly reappeared. Not only did the cat reappear, but he was seemingly unharmed. The beloved cat who disappeared somehow managed to survive five long months alone in the Northern Rockies – not an easy feat. While everyone was ecstatic about the good news, one problem still remained: how would they get Shadow home to Oklahoma?
Fortunately, Shadow’s good luck continued. Two lovely people volunteered to help reunite Shadow with his family. Christine Sutherland and Bruce Kosugi are real-life heroes. When speaking with Energetic City, Sutherland shared the plan to return to Shadow home. “He was going to drive up from Oklahoma to Winnipeg, and I was going to fly to Winnipeg with the cat or fly down to Oklahoma City,” she shared.
Barton’s children even offered to give up their Christmas presents so that all of the family’s funds could go towards bringing their beloved Shadow home.
