What are the most popular activities in the park?
Bayou Segnette is known for its boating with a boat launch that gives access to fishing in Lake Cataouatche and Barrataria Bay. We also have a picnic area that is a popular spot for crawfish boils and barbecues, and a wave pool that is open from Memorial Day until Labor Day. We also have a several nature trails and can offer canoeing when requested.

Where is Bayou Segnette State Park located? What are some other attractions in the area worth checking out?
Bayou Segnette is Located on Bus 90 in Westwego, just across the river from New Orleans. The world famous French Quarter is a short ferry ride from the park, or guests can visit many of the other fun areas in New Orleans a short drive away. Also nearby are Swamp Tours, Historic Plantations, and a Local Seafood Market is next door for fresh shellfish for dinner.

Which one of the attractions is your favorite?
I love that we offer the best of both worlds. After a day of enjoying nature and bird watching in the park, you can shower and get dressed for dinner at one of New Orleans’ world famous restaurants and follow that with some music and people watching at one of the city’s famous music venues.

What are the campsites like within the park? Are they more open or secluded?
Hurricane Katrina and several other storms really changed the look of the campground by damaging many of the trees in that area. As a result the camp sites are generally rather open, however most are well spaced out and have plenty of room to set up without being right on top of your neighbors.
