A wildlife photographer who goes by Colorado Wild Photography on social media recently shared footage of an absolutely massive grizzly bear in the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. The bear, Grizzly #970, is a huge male missing one ear, which is why people call him “Van Gogh.”

“An absolute unit of a bear!” wrote Colorado Wild Photography in her post sharing the footage. “#970 is estimated to be between 18-22 years old. He used to have an ear tag, but it was bitten off along with his right ear! You can only imagine the battles this old guy has been through over the years. What a magnificent animal!”
